The second round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and six major powers headed by Iranian top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili and EU foreign policy cheif Catherine Ashton started in Baghdad, ISNA News Agency reported on May 24.

Iran and world major powers held the first round of Baghdad negotiations yesterday. Ashton and Jalili held two rounds of separate talks during last day and today as well.

Iran and P5+1 offered separate proposals together during yesterday talks.

IRNA reported yesterday that the Iranian delegation to nuclear talks on Wednesday offered a five-pivot package of proposals to representatives of Group 5+1 led by European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.

At the same time, Ashton's spokesman stated on the sidelines of talks between the P5+1 countries and Iran on Wednesday that the world powers have submitted a proposal to Iran to reduce uranium enrichment during the Baghdad nuclear talks.

The IRNA reported that the proposal related to 20-percent enriched uranium, but Michael Mann did not explain further details of the proposal.

Western countries are concerned that Iran may develop a hidden military nuclear plant, but Iran rejects the claims, saying its nuclear program is intended to be peaceful.

So far, UNSC has adopted four rounds of economic sanctions against Iran and the U.S. the EU and their allies have slapped even more sanctions on Iran, demanding it to put a halt on its uranium enrichment program and show transparency in its nuclear activities.
