When its Fifth Five Year Socio-Economic Plan (2011-2015) concludes Iran will be producing 79.9 million liters of petrol a day, and almost all of it, 73 million liters, will meet the Euro 4 and 5 environmental standards.

Iran will be producing 62 million liters of petrol a day and 24 million liters of that will meet the Euro 4 and 5 emission standards, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reports

Alireza Zeyghami, a deputy oil minister as saying.

By the end of next year Iran's production of Euro 4 and 5 petrol will have reached 50 million liters while also producing 18 to 20 million liters of Euro 2 petrol, said Mr. Zeyghami who's the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC).

Some refineries need to add octane boosters to their petrol but that will reduce when nine new refinery projects are finished.

The government has allocated $11.5 billion to increase petrol quality and more than $1.7 billion for petrol production projects.
