The Sarvestan and Saadatabad oil fields in the Iranian Fars province will start early production by mid-September, ready to produce 15,000 barrels of oil a day.

Oil Minister Rostam Ghasemi, who visited the fields today, the projects were moving ahead well but they have to be sped up in order to meet their production deadline, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reports.

The 15,000 barrels of oil that will be produced by the two fields will meet part of the Shiraz refinery's demand for feedstock.

The Sarvestan field has employed 800 people directly and 1,700 people indirectly.

The Sarvestan and Saadatabad fields cover 242 square kilometers and have 1.4 billion barrels of oil reserves.
