Diesel consumption rose by 9.8 per cent in Iran last week to reach 719.1 million litres, the IRIB reported.
Consumption hit 102.7 million on a daily basis, according to the report.
Managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Alireza Zeighami said on October 2011 that the Islamic Republic is capable of exporting 15 million litres of diesel per day.
According to Zeighami, Iranian refineries currently produce 100 million litres of diesel every day.
