Iran has manufactured nearly 24.5 million tons of cement in the first four months of this year (Iran's solar year starts on March 20).
Clinker production so far this year has surpassed 5.6 million tons.
The country's current capacity to produce 74 million tons of cement annually is targeted to grow to 110 million tons by the end of Iran's Fifth Five Year Plan (2011-2015).
Iran's cement industry has been beset with turmoil in the past two weeks. The Khazar Cement Plant, one of Iran's biggest, had to stop production for 10 days when truck drivers' refused to transport the plant's cement at the rates of pay. In early July there were reports of 700 workers going on strike at the Siman Sepahan plant in the city of Isfahan because they hadn't been paid
