Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi will visit Egypt during his trip to some African countries which was started on Saturday.

A diplomatic source told Iran's state agency IRNA that Salehi scheduled to visit Egypt after visiting several African countries.

IRNA cited the source anonymously that Salehi will meet Egyptian president Mohammad Morsi to talk regional situation and bilateral relations.

The two countries had severed relations since 1979.

This will be Salehi's second trip to Egypt. Before Iran's Press TV reported that Salehi scheduled to visit Egypt on January 9.

Salehi's travel to Egypt is announced while Cairo rejected his demand to visit Gaza Strip through Egypt border after Israil's strike over there in late 2012.

During the Israeli strike on Gaza Strip, Salehi said he is ready to visit Palestine to express his support and solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Egypt allowed some countries' top officials including Turkey FM Ahmet Davudoglu to visit Gaza, but didn't respond to Iran's request.

Iran and Egypt also have different position about Syria crisis. Iran supports strongly Bashar Assad regime, while Egypt calls Assad to hand over the presidency and stop killing people.

According to the UN report, clashes between Syrian government and opposition forces have increasingly risen since early last year, resulting in over 60, 000 deaths.

Over 130 countries recognize opposition groups headed by the The National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces as the legitimate representative of Syrian people.
