A military parade held in Iran on Sunday in connection with "Sacred defense" week, Mehr news agency reported.

All units of Iranian Armed Forces, "Sepah" corps, land and navy forces participate at the military parade.

The aim of the parade is to demonstrate Iran's military power, said in report.

The parade held in all Iranian cities besides Tehran.

The parade held in front of the mausoleum of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khomeini. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Iran's high-ranking civilian and military officials, as well as military attaches of foreign missions in Iran observe the parade.

The latest technologies in the military sphere were demonstrated during the parade.

Each year, the day of Iraq's attack on Iran is marked as the "Sacred Defense" week in this country. Military parades are held in Tehran and other Iranian cities on this occasion.

The Iran-Iraq war began on September 22 1980 with the attack of Iraqi army to Iran's Khuzestan province. The war ended on August 20 1988 with the signing of a ceasefire agreement and the borders of the two countries remained in a pre-war state.
