Iran's nuclear issue should be solved peacefully, via talks, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said at the joint press conference in Turkey with country's FM, Ahmet Davutoglu, TRT Haber channel reported live.
The Iranian foreign minister arrived in Istanbul after he wrapped up an official visit to South Africa.
The Iranian and Turkish foreign ministers previously met on the sidelines of the 68th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 23.
"As president Hassan Rouhani said upon his return from New York, this is just the beginning of the way," Zarif noted, adding that Iran's nuclear issue should be solved via diplomacy.
"What did they gain in Iraq, or Afghanistan? Using force is in nobody's interests, I hope Mr. Barack Obama understands that," Zarif underscored.
Speaking of the negotiations that Iran carries out with the Western states regarding country's nuclear program, Zarif expressed hope that there will be a different climate that will help to improve the negotiations.
The U.S. and its Western allies suspect Iran of developing a nuclear weapon - something that Iran denies. The Islamic Republic has on numerous occasions stated that it does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, using nuclear energy for medical researches instead.
Upon arriving in Turkey, Zarif told journalists that Iran and Turkey can exchange views and work together to invite conflicting parties in the region to dialog and take steps toward the establishment of peace and security in the region.
Zarif noted that he would also discuss a range of issues, including bilateral and regional questions, in separate meetings with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Ankara.
