Iran’s Palermo, CFT review postponed

Iran's accession to the CFT and Palermo conventions was postponed till the next Iranian year (started on March 21, 2018), Member of Iran’s Advisory Council, Gholamreza Mesbahi, said.

The detailed discussions on the Palermo convention have been recently held at the meeting of Advisory Council, Mesbahi added, Trend reports referring to ILNA.

Mesbahi added that a decision was made to postpone the Palermo, CFT review for the next Iranian year.

FATF, which has been struggling against money laundering, terrorism financing, has extended the term of Iran’s accession to the four conventions up to four months.

Four FATF projects have been approved by the Iranian parliament and submitted to the Advisory Council.

Four projects were not approved as there were shortcomings.

The Iranian parliament has again approved the projects and submitted them to the Advisory Council.

Two of the four conventions have been approved by the Advisory Council and discussions on two Conventions (CFT and Palermo) are underway.
