The document was made public by State Minister Mehmet Aydin, who stated that according to the date of October of this academic year, 4.950 courses on learning the Koran have been functioning in Turkey. At the same time, during the last summer vacation, the number of such courses (including 2-month courses in 2006) reached 58,500.
According to the State Minister Mehmet Aydin, the above-mentioned courses have been organized with the consent of representatives of the Turkish Education Ministry.
