Minister of Electricity Imad Khamis discussed on Monday with Advisor to the First Vice President of Iran, head of the Committee for Development of Iranian-Syrian Economic Relations Rostam Ghasemi, and the accompanying delegation means to develop joint cooperation in electricity sector, SANA reported.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the means to provide financing from the Iranian credit line for importing spare parts, maintenance supplies, and required materials for power plants, in addition to the necessary equipment for power networks and financing some of the contracts with Iranian companies.
The two sides agreed to form a joint subcommittee to discuss ways to develop cooperation in the electricity sector, remove obstacles hindering work in this sector, and establish foundations for further cooperation in the future.
Khamis noted that Syria highly appreciates Iran's support in all fields, while Ghasemi pointed out to the role of workers in the electricity sector In Syria who have faced great challenges during the crisis.
Last March, Syria and Iran signed economic cooperation agreement covering the sectors of energy, industry, agriculture, expanding joint investments, and enhancing the role of the private sector in these fields.
