The Islamic state Militant group (aka IS, ISIS, ISIL, or by their Arabic acronym, Daesh) is incapable of conducting large-scale measures in Iran, a senior Iranian military official said.

Brig-Gen Mohammad Ali Jafari, the commander in chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), has said that given the country's security situation, the militant group is very unlikely to carry out large-scale operations in Iran however they may conduct some minor acts, ISNA news agency reported Nov. 22.

Although the IS may conduct minor acts, they cannot undermine security in the country, the commander added.

Gen Jafari said that Iranian security organizations have recently foiled several attempt made by the IS aimed at destabilizing the country.

He further added that a terrorist group affiliated with the IS has been arrested in the western province of Kermanshah.

On 21 November, Iranian security organizations arrested two terrorist teams who had a considerable amount of explosives, weapons and ammunitions in the country's eastern and northwestern frontiers.
According to Iranian Ministry of Interior one of the terrorist teams had plans to explode roadside bombs in the southeastern counties of Rask to Iranshahr using 150 kilograms of explosives.

The reports regarding terrorist groups in Iran are broken while Tehran is hosting the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) and nine heads of states are expected to attend the GECF's summit Nov 23.
