Baku, Azerbaijan, June 8
By Fatih Karimov - Trend:
A new gasoline production unit will become operational at the Lavan Refinery, in southern Iran within the next two months, Shahrokh Khosravani, deputy managing director at the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), said.
He explained that the new facility is a light naphtha isomerization unit, designed for producing high-quality gasoline, SHANA news agency reported June 8.
Once the unit becomes operational, the refinery's gasoline output will increase by 700,000 liters per day from the current 2.1 million liters per day, said Khosravani.
The plan to develop the refinery, with an aim to boost the gasoline production capacity there and improve the quality to meet the Euro 4 standards, has not been completed so far.
The plan started eight years ago and was scheduled to be completed in the Iranian fiscal year 1390 (March 2011 - March 2012).
Under the plan, the refinery will also produce jet fuel meeting international standards.
