Iran’s gas output increases by 5%

Iran’s gas output has increased by five percent during the first 86 days of the current fiscal year (started on March 20), head of the Dispatching Management Department at National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Abdolreza Ebrahimian said.

Iran averagely has extracted 551 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas per day during the mentioned period, Ebrahimian said, SHANA news agency reported June 20.

Ebrahimian further said that averagely 196 mcm of gas was consumed per day by household, commercial, and small industries during the 86-day period, indicating a rise by nine percent compared to the same period of last year.

Iran's industry sector also consumed 98 mcm billion cubic meters of natural gas on a daily basis in the period, four percent more year-on-year, he added.

The official also said that some 172 mcm per day of gas was supplied to power plants during the period, making up 95 percent of total fuel consumption in the country’s power plants.

Iran has injected averagely 4.54 billion cubic meters of gas to old oilfields during the 86-day since the beginning of current fiscal year (March 20), which was 500 mcm more compared to the oil ministry’s approved plan, Ebrahimian said.

Iran's sweet gas production reached 175.8 bcm last fiscal year.
