The official Twitter account of the French embassy to Iran has said that the trade turnover between the two countries in 2016 hiked by 235 percent.
According to official French statistics, trade turnover between the two countries stood at about $696 million in 2015, of which $623 million accounted for the European country’s exports to the Islamic Republic.
Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, earlier announced that Iran-EU trade also witnessed a considerable surge over the last year as the figure rose by 78 percent to post 13.7 billion euros in 2016.
The Twitter post also touched upon Iran’s nuclear deal (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action/JCPOA) with the world powers saying the nuclear accord has yielded good results.
Iran and the world powers in 2015 reached the historic deal on the country's nuclear program removing sanctions on the Islamic Republic in exchange for curbing Tehran's nuclear activity.
