Iran’s transport system needs $154B

The transportation system in Iran is in need of 5 quadrillion ($154 billion, each USD worth 32,422 rials) investment, according to Amir Amini, deputy minister of transport for planning and resource management.

This amount of money is needed to accomplish the projects defined within the 2025 vision (a countrywide master-plan for development across sectors), Amini said, IRNA news agency reported March 5.

The official further said that the Ministry of Transport owes 940 trillion rials to creditors. The government needs to give the ministry 2.5 trillion rials by the Iranian fiscal year’s end (March 20) in order to pay what is owed to the workforce, he noted.
