Iran facing serious water crisis

The volume of water flowing into Iranian dams over the current hydrological year has dropped by 15 percent.

Some 36.1 billion cubic meters of water ran into dams in Iran since the beginning of the current hydrological year last September, IRNA news agency reported.

In the preceding water year, about 42.22 billion cubic meters of water flowed into the country’s dams.

According to the report only about 13 percent of the country’s dams have been fully filled with water.

The volume of water in about 66 percent of dams in Iran has reached only 40 percent of their capacity.
