Iran's unemployment insurance fails to cover majority of jobless people

Only 3.2 percent of jobless individuals in Iran received the unemployment insurance benefits over the last fiscal year (starting March 20).

Manour Atashi, an official with the Social Security Organization of Iran, has said that about 96.8 percent of jobless people of the country received no benefits form the unemployment program, Tasnim news agency reported.

The organization currently pays benefits to 212,000 jobless individuals in the country, he added.

Manour Atashi further added that about 1.2 percent of the jobless came from agriculture sector, 4.3 from industry sector and 2.4 percent from service sector.
