Iran state insurer to establish special offices on life insurance

The head of the department for technical issues at Iran Insurance firm, Mohammad Zahednia, has voiced plans for establishing several specialized offices on life insurance in the country.

"This plan will be carried out after appointing a board member as the leader of life insurance departments in Iran Insurance firm. The share and position of [life] insurance field will considerably increase by implementing the development plans,” the official said, according to the public relations office of Iran Insurance Company.

In addition to 9,800 real representatives and 335 legal representatives, 780 life insurance agents are involved in offering various life insurance policies in Iran Insurance firm, and the figure is expected to increase three times, he added.

Over the first half of the current fiscal year (starting March 20) Iranians in total paid $666.6 million (22 trillion rials) for life insurance policies, indicating a 35 percent increase year-on-year, according to the industry regulator.

Abdolnaser Hemmati, the head of the Central Insurance of Iran, has said that the total income of the insurance companies over the mentioned period reached $5 billion (166 trillion rials).
