The volume of Iran’s gas output from the joint field of South Pars has reached 555 million cubic meters per day, a senior official said.
The head of South Pars Gas and Oil Company, Mohammad Meshkinfam, has said that 21 standard phases of the gas field with a total production capacity of 570 million cubic meters per day have already been utilized.
According to the official, about $72 billion has been invested in the development of the South Pars gas field.
The country is currently utilizing 26 platforms in the gas field which supplies about 70 percent of Iran’s gas consumption.
South Pars is part of a huge offshore field, shared with Qatar in the Persian Gulf. The field is estimated to hold about 8 percent of the world’s natural gas reserves.
