Iran’s drilling operations decrease

The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) drilled over 233.33 kilometers of oil and gas wells using its drilling equipment during the first 11 months of Iran’s current fiscal year (March 20, 2017-Jan. 21), Hamid Reza Khoshayand, deputy managing director of NIDC, said.

The figure is less compared to the same period of the preceding year, when the NIDC drilled 168 wells with overall length of 255 kilometers.

The company carried out drilling of 149 offshore and onshore oil and gas wells during the 11-month period, Khoshayand said, the press office of the NIDC said.

The wells included 61 development and eight delineation wells as well as two exploratory and 78 repairing ones, he added.

The NIDC drilled over 17,150 meters of oil and gas wells in the 11th Iranian calendar month (Jan. 21-Feb. 20).

The National Iranian South Oil Fields Company (NISOC) shared 112 of the drilled wells, followed by Iranian Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (27 wells), Iranian Offshore Oil Company (eight wells) and Exploration Directorate of National Iranian Oil Company (two wells), Khoshayand said.

The NIDC owns 73 drilling rigs including 70 light, heavy and ultra-heavy onshore and three offshore rigs.

The company carried out drilling of 193 offshore and onshore oil and gas wells (293 kilometers) during the last Iranian fiscal year (ended March 20, 2017).
