Iranian agriculture ministry seeks to increase the country’s annual production capacity to 2 million tons of poultry meat and 920,000 tons of red meat by 2021.
Hassan Rokini, a deputy minister of agriculture, has said that the county’s production of poultry meat has increased by seven percent over the current fiscal year (starting March 20) to stand at 2.236 million tons.
According to the official website of the ministry, the country produced 2.06 million tons of poultry over the last fiscal year.
Rokni further added that Iran over the current year has exported 40,000 tons of poultry.
The official further touched upon Iran’s egg production and said that country produced 887,000 tons of eggs over the current year.
The deputy minister said that Iranians over the current fiscal year consumed 838,000 tons of red meat and per capita consumption of meat was close to 11.8 kilograms.
