By Kamyar Eghbalnejad - Trend:

Iran seeks to localize technical services in gas refineries, Saeed Pak Seresht, director of research and technology at National Iranian Gas Company, told Trend May 19.

“The National Iranian Gas Company and Research Institute of Petroleum Industry established an institute for development in gas related fields in a five-year project and a contract worth $50 billion, seeking to localize technical services in gas refiners,” the official said.

This contract has three main axes, including the gas sweetening, reducing and recycling the gases sent to flare, as well as managing its sulfur, in the case of these services, Pak Seresht added.

The project focuses primarily on domestic refineries and in case of success, it will be transmitted to out of Iran, he added.

He further emphasized that at present, with the cooperation of coordination management and refineries production monitoring, certain projects are being carried out for refineries, which include the reduction and recycling of gas sent to flare in Parsian Gas Refinery and solving the corrosion problem in the Ilam Refinery.

He argued that such matters as reduction and recycling of fuels sent to flares to be burnt out in South Pars phases 2 and 3 are done by foreign companies, adding that today Iran is using domestic technology for this part to be done in Parsian refinery.
