Baku, Azerbaijan, August 19

Trend:

Iran imported 3,067 tons of pharmaceutical products in the first four months of the current Iranian fiscal year (started March 21).

3,067 tons of pharmaceutical products worth nearly $4 million were imported to Iran during the 4 months to July 22, according to Iran Customs Administration’s latest report.

Iran imported 3,000 tons of medicine during the same corresponding period last year.

The Iranian government has taken practical measures to facilitate clearance of cargoes of pharmaceutical products from all customs points of entry across the country.

In recent years, Iranian private companies have started production of biological pharmaceuticals. The country has also a relatively advanced herbal medical basis thanks to its vast floral resources.

The pharmaceutical industry is regulated by the government, where production and importation of drugs is heavily subsidized.
