Number of citizens passing through Iran’s Bilasuvar customs checkpoint up

The number of citizens crossing the Bilasuvar customs checkpoint of Iran’s western Ardabil province has increased by 42 percent this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019), Director General of the Road Transport Department of Ardabil province Ali Rahmati said.

Some 368,226 people crossed the Bilasuvar customs checkpoint this summer, Rahmati added, Trend reports referring to IRNA. According to the official, more than 333,000 of 368,226 people are foreigners and 34,775 are Iranian citizens.

During the reporting period, 937 buses passed through the Bilasuvar customs checkpoint, 470 of them entered Iran, while 467 buses left the country, he said.

Rahmati noted that the Bilasuvar customs checkpoint is one of the five main checkpoints in Iran. He said that 4,779 cars passed through the Bilasuvar customs checkpoint during the reporting period; 2,507 of them entered the country and 2,272 cars left Iran.

Bilasuvar district is located on the border with Azerbaijan, 165 km north of Iran’s Ardabil province. This it the only customs checkpoint of Ardabil province.
