In first three months of this Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), 317,000 tons of goods were exported to Central Asian countries by 5,000 railcars through Sarakhs county of the Razavi Khorasan province of Iran, said Head of Khorasan Railway Main Department Mostafa Nasseri Vargh, Trend reports with reference to IRNA.
He noted that the Razavi Khorasan province holds the first place and has accounted for a 77 percent share in railway exports of Iran by exporting 283 tons of goods in the reporting period.
He added that the main export product was cement (81 percent).
“Uzbekistan with an 84 percent share is one of the main countries in the Central Asia where Iran exports its goods by rail,” he said. “Uzbekistan is followed by Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.”
From March 21, 2018 to March 20, 2019, exports, imports and transit of goods by rail from Iran’s Sarakhs county to Central Asian countries amounted to over two million tons.
