Iran's wheat purchases from its farmers exceed 7 million tons

In the current crop year until Sept. 8, Iran has bought 7.67 million tons wheat from its farmers, Trend reports referring to the country's Agriculture Jihad Ministry.

The total value of the wheat bought during the reported period amounted to 132.8 trillion rials (roughly $3.16 billion), the ministry noted.

According to the ministry's report, 114.3 trillion rials (roughly $2.72 billion) of this amount had been paid to the farmers by Sept. 8.

The ministry underlined that the rest of the payment will be made gradually.

The ministry further noted that most of the wheat was bought in Khuzestan (1.3 million tons), Kurdistan (721,000 tons), Fars (651,000 tons) , Golestan (559,000 tons) and Kermanshah (545,000 tons) provinces.
