By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

The Iranian Energy Exchange (IRENEX) has the potential to sell oil products worth $1.5 billion per month, said Alireza Sadighabadi, Iranian deputy oil minister and managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), Trend reports citing IRNA.

He said that it is possible to sell three million tons of oil products per month at the IRENEX and set an average price of $500 per ton.

He added that over the past two months (July 23 - September 22), oil products worth $500 million were sold at the energy exchange.

“In the sixth month (August 22 - September 22), oil products worth $400 million were sold at the energy exchange,” he said.

Iran, which is producing 115 million liters of gasoline per day, is the leader in the region and among OPEC countries in terms of gasoline production, he noted.

“Iran produces 125 million liters of diesel per day,” he said. “Although Iran lags behind Saudi Arabia in production, there is great potential for exporting this product because of its low consumption in Iran.”
