Iran is planning to develop interaction with members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO) by increasing non-oil export to the countries in this structure, said head of export commission in Iran Chamber of Commerce Jamshid Nafar, Trend reports citing IRNA.
Iran's permanent membership in the organization is an important part of Iran developing its relations with the rest of the world, he said.
The country is seeking to normalize trade ties and requires new infrastructure to boost its trade, alongside with solving obstacles related to banking transactions.
Iran's trade volume with the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO) in 2020 was 55 million tons of goods (valued $28 billion). Iran exported 46 million tons valued $14.6 billion and imported 9 million tons valued $13.4 billion in this period.
Major part of Iran's trade with members of the SCO belonged to China (valued for $18.9 billion), while its trade with the following countries stood at: India ($3.4 billion), Afghanistan ($2.3 billion), Russia ($1.6 billion), Pakistan ($1.2 billion).
