TEHRAN, Iran, Feb.23

Trend:

Japan is seeking to import oil from Iran, head of Iran-Japan Joint Commercial Committee Bahram Shakouri told Trend.

He said the negotiations are naturally being formed by ambassadors and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Japan is very keen to have interaction with Iran and is interested in importing oil and exporting certain equipment, if sanctions on Iran are lifted," he said.

Shakouri noted that details of Japan's oil purchase from Iran have not been released yet.

"Japan has predicted that the possible revival of the JCPOA would lead the country to develop trade with Iran," he indicated. " If negotiations succeed, Japan's costs of importing oil will be reduced, and Iran can use its oil revenues on building infrastructure."
