BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 3. Hormuzgan Province in southern Iran commissioned six ports and port infrastructure totaling 27 trillion rials ($72.7 million) on June 2, Trend reports via the country's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
Bumusa port was commissioned in the province with an expenditure of 13 trillion rials (about $35 million), Sirik port with an expenditure of 6.83 trillion rials (about $18.4 million).
Besides, 3.75 trillion rials (about $10.1 million) were spent on the provision of marine services in the Makran port complex in the province.
Two trillion rials (about $5.39 million) have been spent on commissioning the ICT (International Container Terminal) center in Hormuzgan province.
Moreover, five platforms were built for passenger ships to dock in the above province, for which 780 billion rials (about $2.1 million) were spent.
A marine and port services center has been established in Shahid Rajai port of the province with an expenditure of 600 billion rials (about $1.62 million).
Additionally, 150 trillion rials (about $405 million) were spent on 27 facilities in the ports located in Iran's Hormuzgan, Khuzistan, Bushehr, Sistan, Baluchistan, Mazandaran, and Gilan provinces.
To note, the current capacity of Iranian ports is more than 285 million tons. Iran is taking steps to increase the capacity of ports by 500 million tons.
