BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 3. Port facilities, warehouses, and other objects worth about 8.76 trillion rials (about $23.6 million) were launched at the Imam Khomeini port in Iran's southwestern Khuzestan province on June 2, Trend reports via the country's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
Thus, in order to increase the loading capacity of cranes, a loading area has been commissioned, for which three trillion rials (about $8.09 million) were spent.
Three grain warehouses were launched, for which 2.5 trillion rials (about $6.74 million) were spent by the private sector.
Major repairs were carried out in the Imam Khomeini port to increase loading and unloading capacity, protect infrastructure, and so on, for which 2.1 trillion rials (about $5.66 million) were spent.
Besides, a new dispatch center has been commissioned at the above port with a budget of 1.16 trillion rials (about $3.13 million).
Additionally, 150 trillion rials (about $405 million) were spent on 27 facilities in the ports located in Iran's Hormuzgan, Khuzistan, Bushehr, Sistan, Baluchistan, Mazandaran and Gilan provinces.
To note, the current capacity of Iranian ports is more than 285 million tons. Iran is taking steps to increase the capacity of ports by 500 million tons.
