Once implemented, the nuclear agreement with Iran can open the door to greater opportunities for increased and mutually beneficial cooperation between the EU, its member states and Iran, EU press service told Trend in an exclusive interview Aug.3.

"The EU has welcomed the adoption of the agreement reached in Vienna on July 14, 2015 on a joint comprehensive plan of action, aimed at restoring international confidence in the exclusively civilian nature of Iran's nuclear program in return for the lifting of sanctions, is therefore a critical step in the development of better relations," said EU press-service.

"It could create the baseline for recalibrating our broader relationship with Iran, and could provide the impetus for resolving other areas of concern," said EU, adding that however, it is still premature to focus on concrete trade-related activities before the implementation of the joint comprehensive plan of action and lifting of the sanctions.

Iran and P5 +1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany) reached a historic agreement on Iran's nuclear program July 14.

The negotiations ended with adoption of a joint comprehensive action plan. If Iran carries out this plan, the economic and financial sanctions earlier imposed on it by the UN Security Council, the US and EU will be lifted.
