BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 26. Several steps will be taken in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025) in the field of production of Iran's nuclear industry, the executive director of Iran's Raw Materials and Nuclear Fuel Production Company, Javad Ahmadi said, Trend reports.
Ahmadi remarked that in the current Iranian year, work on nuclear power projects will be completed, with two projects standing out in particular. Before the current year's summer season (June 21, 2024), the safety of dual-use containers, which are critical equipment in nuclear power plants, will be tested. As a result, four dual-use barrels will be used at the nuclear power plant and reactor.
He stated that the Shahid Hojaji yellowcake facility is set to
open in the sixth month of this year (August 22-September 21,
2024). The country relies heavily on this plant's yellowcake
manufacturing.
According to a company spokesman, the first yellowcake facility at
the Shahid Soleimani complex was put into operation last year. In
recent months, this facility has produced two tons of yellowcake
per month. This plant is expected to produce even more yellowcake
this year.
Meanwhile, Iran is using its nuclear program in agriculture, health, electrical engineering, etc., and is taking steps for this purpose starting from the discovery of uranium, mining of uranium stone, production of yellowcake, etc.
To note, the Comprehensive Plan of Joint Action on Iran's nuclear program was implemented between Iran and the P5+1 group (the United States, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany) in January 2016. The US announced in May 2018 that it was withdrawing from the plan and imposed sanctions on Iran in November of the same year. Iran has announced that there will be no restrictions on the Iran nuclear deal in 2020.
In late 2020, the Iranian parliament adopted a strategic plan to counter the sanctions, citing the non-fulfillment of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) signed between Iran and six countries and the imposition of sanctions on Iran.
According to the decision of the Iranian parliament, as of February 23, Iran had stopped the implementation of additional measures and an additional protocol included in the nuclear deal. As a consequence, the monitoring mechanism of the IAEA was reduced by 20–30 percent.
