Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif urged the European Union to play an active and independent role in the process of nuclear talks between the Islamic Republic and the P5+1.
Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Cyprus Deputy Foreign Minister Alexandros Zinon on Oct. 12, Iran's IRNA news agency reported.
The two officials exchanged views on ways to develop mutual cooperation in economic, cultural and political arenas.
The Cyprus official, for his part, expressed hope that the nuclear talks between Iran and P5+1 would lead to successful outcome.
Confidence-building between Iran and the international community would pave the way for expansion of all-out relations between the two sides, Zinon added.
The European Union is seeking to establish a lasting and stable relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran, he added.
