By Khalid Kazimov - Trend:

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani speaking to a large number of people in the city of Isfahan, central Iran, said that Western sanctions have not hindered the country's progress, IRIB news agency reported on Feb. 4.

"They tell us they don't want Iran to develop nuclear bombs. What did you achieve by making bombs?," the president addressed Western powers.

"What did you achieve by providing Israel with nuclear bombs? Did you succeed in making your countries secure through nuclear bombs?," he added.

The Iranian president asserted that Iran does not need nuclear bombs because it has a unified and devoted nation.

"This nation is not afraid of sanctions or threats and will pursue its path to development and prosperity," he reiterated.

Iran has been put under economic sanctions by Western powers which claim that it is developing nuclear bombs, something the country denies.

Iranian officials on the other hand have frequently denounced the sanctions as unjust and said the country is determined to pursue its national interests.
