Jordan FM makes “surprise” visit to Tehran

Jordanian foreign minister, Nasser Judeh arrived in Tehran on March 6 evening upon the invitation of his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif.

This is the first visit of a Jordanian FM to Iran in past eight years and some Iranian media outlets described the one-day visit as a "surprise."

Judeh is scheduled to meet with Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani and foreign minister Zarif today, Iran's ISNA news agency reported March 7.

The sides will discuss issues of mutual interest and exchange views on the latest regional developments.

Before leaving Amman for Tehran Judeh termed his visit to Iran as very important in a meeting with the Iranian ambassador to Jordan, Mojtaba Ferdosipour.
He said the visit especially at the present juncture was quite important.

The Jordanian FM further said that negotiations with Iranian officials will help boosting bilateral relations in all fields including economy.
