As Saudi Arabia started air strikes against the Houthis (a Shia group) in Yemen, Iran's top lawmaker warned against any foreign military intervention.

The chairman of the Iranian parliament's national security and foreign policy commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi said Saudi Arabia's strikes over Yemen, which led to injuring and killing of tens of people there, show Riyadh's irresponsibility towards the Muslim world's problems.

"These military interventions will affect Saudi Arabia as well, because the war will be never restricted to any certain point," he said.

Boroujerdi went on to add that Iran hopes any foreign operation over Yemen must be halted.

Saudi Arabia launched air strikes against the Yemeni Houthi rebels, who are supported by Iran.

Earlier, Iran's Press TV channel reported that the Iranian deputy foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met with his Russian counterpart, Mikhail Bogdanov in Moscow on March 25 and the sides discussed the situation in Yemen.

The White House said earlier that the US President Barack Obama authorized a logistical and intelligence support for a Saudi-led military operation in Yemen to beat back the Houthi militia forces.

"While the US forces are not taking direct military action in Yemen in support of this effort, we are establishing a Joint Planning Cell with Saudi Arabia to coordinate US military and intelligence support," read a White House statement.
