By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:

Relations between Turkey and Russia can't be allowed to aggravate further, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayeen told Trend Nov. 26.

He was commenting on the recent tensions between Ankara and Moscow in the wake of downing of a Russian warplane by the Turkish Air Force.

On Nov. 24, Turkish Air Force shot down a Russian SU-24 warplane in Turkey's airspace. Pilots managed to bale out, while the aircraft fell to Syria's territory.
The ambassador said Russia and Turkey are both Iran's close neighbors.

"From this point of view it is important for us that there are good relations among our neighbors. We have never wanted to see tension among our friends," said Pak Ayeen.

He said Iran also recommends other countries to take the needed actions to prevent further deepening of tension between the two countries.

The ambassador believes the region's countries should together fight against terrorism.

Pak Ayeen also recommended the countries, trying to aggravate the situation in the region, to refrain from doing so.

"The countries, attempting to intervene into the region, shouldn't be a cause for a further escalation in tensions," he said.
