Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has met the European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini as part of his ongoing visit to Norway.

Iran's deputy foreign ministers Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht-e Ravanchi, as well as the EU deputy foreign policy chief Helga Schmid attended the meeting, IRNA news agency reported June 14.

The sides discussed ties between Iran and the EU and the obstacles to the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Following the meeting the sides participated in the Oslo Forum.

According to its official website, the Oslo Forum convenes senior conflict mediators, high level decision makers and key peace process actors in a series of informal and discreet retreats to share their experiences, identify challenges and reflect on mediation practice.

Zarif is also slated to travel to Berlin to hold a meeting with his German counterpart, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
