By Fatih Karimov – Trend:
The Islamic Republic’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif congratulated Iranian director Asghar Farhadi for winning an Oscar for directing film "The Salesman".
Proud of cast and crew of “The Salesman" for Oscar and stance against “Muslim Ban,” Zarif wrote on his Twitter account Feb. 27.
“Iranians have presented culture and civilization for millennia,” the top Iranian diplomat added.
Farhadi, who boycotted Oscars over President Donald Trump's travel ban decree, won the best foreign language Oscar in Los Angeles, for a second time, for domestic drama "The Salesman".
Iranian-American engineer Anousheh Ansari accepted the award on behalf of Farhadi, reading out a statement written by the director.
The director made awards history in 2012 when his film A Separation became the first Iranian film to win an Oscar.
