BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 20. Iran, as the Vice President of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), will chair the standing committees of the APA during the term of 2025-2026, Trend reports.
The 15th APA plenary endorsed the outcome of the consultation of the Executive Council on the future APA Presidency.
Noting that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Bahrain both put forward their candidacies for the presidency of the APA in the years 2026-2027, the assembly made the following decisions:
1. The Kingdom of Bahrain will hold the position of APA Presidency for 2026.
2. The Islamic Republic of Iran will hold the position of APA Presidency for 2027-2028.
3. Iran, as the APA Vice President, will host the Standing Committee on Political Affairs in 2025.
4. Iran, as the APA Vice President, will host the Standing Committee on Economic and Sustainable Development in 2026.
5. The APA Secretariat is to refrain from seeking candidates for the post of APA Presidency for 2026-7,8.
