The main causes of death of Iranian citizens include heart attacks, strokes, oncological illness and traffic accidents, said the Deputy Health Minister Ali Akbar Sayyari, the Iranian news agency Fars News reported Jan.14.
He said that according to statistics in recent years, every year 93,000 people die from heart attacks in Iran, and heart attacks are in the lead as cause of mortality.
"Every year 43,000 people die in Iran from a stroke, 30,000 - from cancer, and 19,000 people are killed in road accidents," said the deputy minister.
Iranian media said that the number of young people suffering from cardiovascular diseases has increased in the country.
If 20 years ago, citizens aged 50-60 years suffered from cardiovascular diseases in Iran, today it is young people aged up to 30 years. In this case, 43 percent of men and 38 percent of women suffer from obesity in Iran.
