Seven people were injured during a shooting that targeted Muslim mourners who were taking part in a religious procession downtown the city of Behbahan, Khuzestan Province in southwestern Iran.

Behbahan Prosecutor Fazel Mohammadpour said the incident took place early in the morning, Fars news agency reported October 25.

He said the police arrested six people over the incident, adding that one of the suspects had been injured in the meantime.

While Fars says the shooters were riding motorbikes and carrying illegal weapons, IRNA news agency reported two groups of mourners started to fight each other as they were trying to enter a sanctuary, when someone shot people with a shotgun.

Security sources said the incident is not related to any terrorist act, including a recent one in nearby city Dezful.

Two people were killed during a shooting incident in Dezful on October 17.

Reportedly unknown gunmen on a car opened fire with automatic weapons on a group of people who were holding a ritual mourning for the third Shia imam Hussain ibn Ali.
