Heavy air pollution has shrouded capital Tehran’s sky alongside with several other large cities, shutting down schools for a third consecutive day in the capital city.

The air quality index of Tehran on Wednesday morning hit 172, dangerous for all groups, the state-run IRINN TV channel reported.

Iranian officials have urged the people to refrain from unnecessary commutes across the mega city.

In the meantime, air pollution has reached a dangerous level in the southwestern cities of Karoun and Ahvaz.

The authorities have announced that the air condition in all populated and industrialized cities of the country is far beyond the accepted threshold.
