Trend:

A total of 600,000 doses of imported flu vaccine was distributed in the country's pharmacy network, the spokesman for Iran Food and Drug Administration announced.

"Since the beginning of October, about 2.5 million doses of influenza vaccine have been imported into the country in several stages,” Kianoush Jahanpour said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

“The country's healthcare staff, pregnant women, incurable patients, such as those with kidney disease, were received the Flu vaccine for free at the first stage,” he said.

He went on to note the difficulty of the import of flu vaccine to the country.

“Iran's orders to buy the flu vaccine hit the banking exchange deadlock caused by sanctions several times,” he said.

A spokesman for the Food and Drug Administration said that at the first stage, 2.5 million doses of vaccine entered the country's health network and were distributed free of charge in health centers.”

“Now, about 600,000 doses of influenza vaccine with subsidized foreign currency have been imported from another route and have been distributed in the pharmacies of the country and will be distributed at a price of 1,920,000 rial ($45),” he said adding that more vaccines were to be imported for distribution in pharmacies, but due to sanctions, it was not possible.”
