Foreign trade of Azerbaijan (2011)

The foreign trade turnover with 149 world countries amounted to $36.327 billion in 2011, or 29.92 percent more than last year. The volume of exports increased by 24.39 percent to $26.571 billion compared to the same period of 2010. The volume of import increased by 47.81 percent and hit $9.756 billion. Azerbaijan exported 2,082 products, and imported 6,233 different goods. The index of export exceeded import in 2011. This formed the foreign trade surplus to the amount of $16.815 billion.

During this period, 8,540 legal and physical entities were involved in foreign trade operations, including 3,843 - legal entities and 4,697 - physical entities.

The share of public sector in exports totaled $25.251 billion (95.03 percent), private - $1.127 billion (4.24 percent), the share of physical entities - $0.193 billion (0.73 percent).

The share of public sector in import operations amounted to $3.404 billion (34.89 percent), the private sector - $5.901 billion (60.49 percent), physical entities -$0.451 billion (4.62 percent).

As in previous periods, oil and oil products are mainly exported from Azerbaijan.

According to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, the country's foreign trade turnover with the CIS countries in 2011 totaled $5.498.7 billion or 15.14 percent of total foreign trade turnover compared to 14.47 percent in 2010.

The exports to the CIS countries for the period amounted to $2.925.16 billion and imports - $2.573.5 billion. As a result, the country had black ink in trade with them at $351.6 million in 2011.
