Serbia intends to offer Azerbaijan new projects for cooperation
Serbia intends to offer Azerbaijan new projects for cooperation, a diplomatic source told Trend.
It is reported that the government is preparing to offer Azerbaijani companies new infrastructure projects in Serbia, and it is also interested in cooperation in the field of agriculture. The Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic is going to discuss all these issues during the forthcoming visit to Azerbaijan, which is tentatively scheduled for late February - early March.
It is also planned to hold the Azerbaijani-Serbian business forum in Baku during the visit of the prime minister.
Preparation issues for the visit were discussed recently at the meeting of the prime minister of Serbia and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan in this country Eldar Hasanov.
The Serbian prime minister expressed his satisfaction with the activity of Azerbaijani companies operating in the country.
"Serbia is a country with great potential in economic and financial fields," the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic told Trend. "We are very interested in Azerbaijani investments, particularly in energy and infrastructure, which already have joint projects that can serve as an example of successful cooperation."
He said that the Serbian side is greatly interested in the enormous potential of cooperation in the field of construction, information and communication technologies, medicines and medical equipment, the food sector, tourism and others.
Serbia and Azerbaijan are working closely in the projects on construction of infrastructure facilities. The construction of the motorway site in Serbia, in which the Azerbaijani company AzVirt is the general contractor, is the largest of these projects. Potential Azerbaijani investors were also presented projects to create free zones in the cities of Cacak and Kraljevo, and several other projects.
The trade turnover between the two countries in 2014 amounted to $3.836 million, according to the State Statistics Committee.
Serbia exports agricultural products, equipment and pumps for the oil and gas industry, as well as furniture and building materials to Azerbaijan.
