President Ilham Aliyev met with President and CEO of Qatar Petroleum

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has met with President and CEO of Qatar Petroleum Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi as part of his official visit to the State of Qatar.

They discussed prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Qatar Petroleum, and highlighted the possibility of joint involvement in a number of projects.

Azerbaijan, Qatar sign 6 documents

A ceremony to sign documents between Azerbaijan and Qatar has been held with participation of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani.

“Memorandum of Understanding between Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC and Qatar Ports Management Company – MWANI Qatar”, “Memorandum of Understanding between the State Civil Aviation Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Civil Aviation Authority of the State of Qatar”, “Additional Protocol to the Agreement on Air Transport between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the State of Qatar” were signed.

Azerbaijan, IMF to mull prospects of economic development

The Azerbaijani government and International Monetary Fund (IMF) will discuss prospects of Azerbaijan’s economic development and latest tendencies in the country’s development.

A source in the Azerbaijani government told Trend that the discussions will be held during an IMF delegation’s official visit to Baku, starting from Feb. 28.

The delegation is led by Chief of IMF mission in Azerbaijan Mohammed El Qorchi.

The source said that today the IMF mission has already had meetings in Azerbaijan’s Economy Ministry, Finance Ministry, Central Bank (CBA), State Oil Fund (SOFAZ) and Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FIMSA).

Ilham Aliyev has meeting with Pakistani PM

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have had a one-on-one meeting in Islamabad.

President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif discussed specific projects in the fields of defense and defense industry. They reached agreement on Azerbaijan`s importing modern defense industry products from Pakistan. The sides noted the significance of increasing trade between the two countries. They said an Azerbaijani export mission consisting of nearly 20 companies visited Pakistan this month in order to increase exports from Azerbaijan to Pakistan.

The President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan discussed energy cooperation issues.

Azerbaijan to supply street and garden furniture to Qatar

Azerbaijan has agreed to supply street and garden furniture to Qatar, Azerbaijan’s Economy Ministry said.

An agreement between Azerbaijani and Qatari companies, IDEA and Scandinavian Supplies, for supply of furniture under the ‘Made in Azerbaijan’ brand was signed during a visit of Azerbaijani businessmen to Qatar.

In Qatar, the Azerbaijani entrepreneurs met with local businessmen. Expansion of ties between the two countries’ entrepreneurs, export of Azerbaijani goods to Qatar, and other issues were discussed in the meeting, which brought together nearly 100 Arab businessmen and representatives of distribution companies.

Azerbaijani entrepreneurs also held a meeting with the Qatar Investment Authority’s officials, got familiar with the stores of French retailer Carrefour, as well as local Qatari markets.

Ilham Aliyev participates in 13th ECO summit in Islamabad

The 13th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) kicked off in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is attending the event.

Azerbaijan’s Financial Stability Board okays 200M manats bond issue

Azerbaijan’s Financial Stability Board approved a 200-million manats guaranteed bond issue for 2017 by the Azerbaijan Mortgage Fund (AMF) OJSC, said the international ratings agency Fitch Ratings. The agency approved AMF’s Long-Term Foreign and Local Currency Issuer Default Ratings (IDRs) at ‘BB+’. Fitch expects AMF will continue to benefit from state support over the medium term. Fitch views AMF’s role as strategically important to the state’s housing policy.

“Demand for housing is fuelled by a growing population and the continued urbanization of the country,” said Fitch.

Azerbaijan to supply hazelnuts to Spain

Special interest is paid to a stand of Azerbaijan at the Gulfood 2017 exhibition which is being held in Dubai, the Azerbaijani Economy Ministry said in a message.

As a result of the talks conducted between representatives of Azerbaijani and Spanish companies as part of the exhibition, one of Azerbaijani companies has already received an order to supply 128 tons of hazelnuts to the Spanish city of Valencia, the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the representatives of Azerbaijani companies also met with Saudi Arabian businessmen as part of the exhibition.

During the meeting, the talks were held to export Azerbaijani meat and meat products to Saudi Arabia, the ministry said.

According to the message, the issue of establishing the Azerbaijani-Saudi Arabian joint ventures was also discussed at the meeting.

An agreement was made as part of the meetings to supply Azerbaijani pomegranate juice to Kuwait and the country’s milk powder products to Dubai, the ministry said.
