In 2006 the foreign trade turnover with 140 countries comprised $11,537bln.

The volume of export grew 46.58% as compared to last year and comprised $6,372bln, while import rose 24.76% and comprised $5,265bln. The foreign trade ended in a balance 1,107bln in black.

In this period the highest rate of export fell on September вЂ" $1189.3m, while the lowest on January - $236.6m. As to import operations, the highest figure was fixed in August - $737.9mln, while the lowest ratio in January - $253.2m

In 2006 the humanitarian assistance rendered by the government and international organizations to Azerbaijan without interests through state and governmental lines, as well as international organizations comprised 23.02ons. The technical assistance to the country amounted to $34.34mln

In 2006 along with export of oil products, cut in export of agriculture products, which is linked with unfavorable situation with the harvest in agriculture in 2006.

In this period the highest amount of export fell on Italy with the total amount of good worth $2,845,4mln, which comprises 44.65% of all export. It is followed by Israel ($684.8m) and Turkey ($388.1).

The share of public sector in export operations made up $3673.25mln (57.65%), private sector held $2602.11 (40.84%). The share of export operations by physical entities comprised $96.75 (1.52%).

Considerable rise was observed in the import of almost all products, excluding consumer products and furniture.

The traditional domination of three countries in import underwent some changes: Russia ($1181.8mln), UK ($453.7mln) and Germany ($403.5).

The share of public sector in import operations made up $1520.8mln (28.89%), while private sector held $3,447.1mln (65.47%). The share of export operations by physical entities comprised $297.17mln (5.64%)

In 2006, the goods amounting to $2,100,1mln (39.89% out of the total volume of the country import) has been imported to Azerbaijan from CIS countries. The volume of Azerbaijan exported goods to CIS amounted to $929.67mln (14.59% of all export).

A red ink to the sum of $1,170,41 has been formed as a result of Azerbaijan import and export operations with CIS countries.

Azerbaijan export to CIS countries mainly consist of fuel, refined oil products, chemical agents, vessels, oil and vegetable fats. CIS countries mainly imported gas, equipment, land carriers, machinery plants, cereals, and electronics to Azerbaijan.
